Who We Are
Our members come from diverse backgrounds—ranging from closeted and reserved novices to vibrant gender advocates, from dedicated working professionals to spirited retirees. No matter where someone is in their journey, we uplift each other, share in each other’s company, and leave politics at the door.
Now, let’s introduce some of our fabulous members:

Hi – I’m Margo.
I’ve been with Emerald City for 22 years, serving as social chair, secretary, and even president. This club has been a source of unbridled joy—my family outside my family, and my tribe, all rolled into one.
After 26 years of being out as Margo Donaldson, I took a bold step this summer and underwent facial feminization surgery. It’s part of a long, swooning journey toward fully embracing myself as a transsexual woman.
Why now? Well, there’s a story behind that—and plenty more. Ask me what me and my tribe have done in public and private spaces. I’ve got stories, gurlfriend, and I’d love to share them with you!

Hello – I’m Liz.
I proudly identify as a trans woman and am fully out in every aspect of my life. I am happily married, my son is off to college, and I’m embracing life to the fullest. But my journey has never followed a straight path.
For 56 years, I lived in quiet desperation, uncertain of how to reconcile my identity with the world around me. Until, finally, I came to terms with who I am and renegotiated my place in it. Coming out to my wife of 25 years was a moment of profound change—and together, we found a way to make things work.
Since then, life has been a whirlwind. In 2024, I joined The Emerald City, where I found the community support I needed to shed my doubts and embrace a new sense of normalcy. Less than a year later, I began my transition, and I haven’t looked back.

Hello – I’m Maille.
I came out to my wonderfully supportive wife in 2011, but for the next three years, I remained in the closet. That changed in 2014 when I joined the Emerald City.
There, I found friendship among like-minded souls and the encouragement to embrace my authentic self. Through that journey, I also discovered the joy of helping others who were just beginning their own paths.
Ultimately, I had the privilege of becoming President of The Emerald City Social Club — a role that allows me to continue growing, learning, and sharing in the beautiful experiences of self-discovery every day.

Hello, I am Samantha.
I am a bi-gender person who is still partially in the closet.
I’ve been with the Emerald City for a few years and credit it with giving me the courage and friendship to let the femme side of me thrive.
Before, I was only dressing at home, but now, I am out as Samantha almost every week. While I have no desire to be en femme 100% of the time, this club has helped me maintain balance between the male and female sides of me.

Hello, I’m Karen.
I am a transgender woman who came out of the closet in 1987.
As a longtime member of The Emerald City Social Club in Seattle, I have always taken on a leadership role in running the club and have been deeply involved in Emerald City’s outreach across Puget Sound.
My passion for education has driven me to organize transgender presentations at colleges and educational institutions, including the University of Washington’s main campus, Highline College, Pierce College, and Peninsula College. I believe that through education, everyone can gain a better understanding of transgender people.
I have also been an integral part of the Esprit transgender convention in Port Angeles since its founding in 1990. After retiring from my career as an electrical engineer, I now live with my wife in Kirkland.

Hi – I’m Bellamy.
I’m currently undergoing gender-affirming procedures as part of my transition.
I’ve found incredible joy and support through Emerald City. Whether you’re exploring crossdressing, transitioning, or just curious, it’s a welcoming space full of empathy and fun.
My therapist recommended the club during a tough chapter in my life, and the friendships I’ve formed here have helped me grow and heal more than I ever expected. There’s something happening all the time, and I’ve rarely felt anything but uplifted. With the club’s support, I began dating again after 25 years—now I’m engaged to a wonderful man!
So, wherever you’re starting from, you’re not alone. We’d love to meet you!
Are you ready to meet your new sisters?
